turf construction
Ballina Hockey Complex
Work has begun on the construction of Ballina Hockey Club’s new Synthetic Turf Complex . It is anticipated the turf will be fully operational for the 2011 hockey season.
Having a second turf in the Far North Coast Hockey competition will be a fantastic asset for everyone involved in hockey. More training sessions and matches will be able to be conducted on the artifical surface, which will help improve players’ skill levels, reduce cancellations due to wet weather, and improve the competitiveness of the Far North Coast competition at all levels. The new turf will also provide an economic boost for Ballina as it enables the opportunity to host state championships and other major events that will bring increased revenues for local businesses.

The construction is being managed by Ballina Shire Council on behalf of the Club. During construction we will require a range of skills and we will be seeking assistance for these. Some of the tasks will require current safety cards for volunteers. The table below shows an approximate construction timeline and outlines what assistance may be required.
