A working BEE will be held this Saturday 11th February starting at 8am to finish off leveling and outer fencing.  Once our outer fence is completed we can go forward with our licence, so if you enjoy an after game drink and relaxing now is the time to help out.

- Women’s weekend fitness starts Sunday 12th Feb – A grade compulsory, all others welsomce. Be ready to go at 4.30pm at the Shaws Bay steps.

- Women’s Tuesday fitness & turf training commences on 21st Feb – 6.30pm at the Ballina Hockey Complex.

- Juniors Thursday fitness starts on 16th Feb from 4.30-5.30pm at the Ballina Hockey Complex followed by 5.30-6pm – social match

Turf training

 Club sign-on days will be held in February, probably towards the end of the month.

Speed for Sport – 10am-12 noon

This workshop explores speed and agility in the context of today’s sports arena and how they can be learned as skills. The workshop will combine theory with practical exercises, enabling coaches and athletes to design their own speed and agility program to enhance their sporting ability.

COURSE COST: $35

Introductory Sports Massage – 1pm-3pm

The workshop allows participants to learn the general principles of sports massage, including different types of massage and techniques associated with each form. Course content will focus on legs and shoulder massage, and provide information on how to prepare for an event, injury prevention and treatment of sore or damaged tissue.

COURSE COST: $35

The presenter for both courses is Graham Lees, professional sports massage therapist and sport and physical fitness trainer. Graham has an extensive background in rugby league, both as a player and a coach, most recently with the Gold Coast Titans.

Teams will be selected once names and numbers have been finalised. Hopefully teams will be set in colours, one team Red, Yellow, Purple and say Pink (these are just a guide). That way the girls will play with with players from different clubs so that we are promoting the GAME of Hockey and not any one particular club. This will be a great way for all the girls to get to know each other as well before the rep season commences.

Men’s senior open is set to start on Monday 30th January & the Women’s senior open on Friday 3rd February.  Games will be 15 minutes halves with a 3 minute break.  The rules for nine’s ensure that the game is kept moving, players have more space and minor breaches are play on.

Good to see our A Grade women giving generously this holiday season. The girls, and a few of their partners, got together recently to donate blood and platelets at the new Lismore Red Cross Donor Centre. Each donation saves up to 3 lives – definitely a worthwhile experience, and one many have signed up to do again. A special thank you to first time donors Georgia Hunter, Vicki Morgan and Ellyse Anderson – your gift will be much appreciated by someone in need this Xmas!
